I’ve been thinking about the difference between free traffic and paid traffic.
Everyone tells you that free traffic is the way to go.
And obviously, getting visitors without paying for them sounds great.
But there’s something I’ve started looking at differently.
Free traffic isn’t really free.
You might not be paying money, but you’re paying with your time.
Creating content.
Posting every day.
Making videos.
Building an audience.
Commenting.
Trying to get people to notice you.
And then doing it all again tomorrow.
If you have plenty of time, that’s one thing.
But what if you don’t?
That’s where paid traffic becomes interesting.
You can spend money and potentially get visitors immediately rather than spending months trying to build an audience.
Of course, paid traffic isn’t automatically better.
You can waste money just as easily as you can waste time.
A poor advert, the wrong audience or the wrong offer can burn through a budget very quickly.
So I think the real question isn’t:
“Is free traffic better than paid traffic?”
It’s:
“Which resource do you have more of — time or money?”
For me, that’s the interesting part.
I’m increasingly interested in testing paid traffic because I’d rather spend some money finding out what works than spend endless hours trying to generate every visitor myself.
And if the numbers work, you can scale it.
That’s very different from constantly having to create the next piece of content just to get the next visitor.
I’m going to be testing this with paid advertising and seeing what the numbers actually say.
Less guessing. More testing.
